Craft Alliance Center of Art + Design presents the workshop Edge to Edge: Repeat Block Printing with Kelsey Viola Wiskirchen on Sunday, October 6, 2019 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
In this one-day intensive workshop, participants will learn strategies for developing seamless repeating designs, and explore the way an individual block expands into dynamic edge-to-edge patterning. You will learn how to use textile pigments to print your original designs permanently onto fabric, which can be used for garments, quilting, or any other sewing project. You will hand-carve your own linoleum blocks which can be reused for future printing, and learn techniques for creating a registered repeat. You will leave the studio with colorfully printed fabric and all of the skills to continue doing this process at home.
Kelsey Viola Wiskirchen earned her BFA with a concentration on in Fibers from Truman State University and her MFA in Fibers from Arizona State University. She was an artist-in-residence at Craft Alliance in 2012, and since then has continued working with Craft  Alliance's community programs. She spent two years in Tennessee as an Artist-in-Residence at the Appalachian Center for Craft, and currently lives in St. Louis, working as a studio artist and teaching textile workshops.
Registration: $118/Craft Alliance member; $138/non-member. +$20 studio fee/all participants. Workshop will be held in the Delmar Design Studio, 2nd floor. Register here.
