Join Innovations in Textiles 2019 as we welcome Surface Design Association and their “Beyond the Surface” Biennial Conference to St. Louis October 3-6 p.m. The Bus Tours Special Event is held Saturday, October 5. Choose one of five Tours and register early! Tours last 7 hours & include lunch. Departure is between 9-10 a.m. from the Clayton Plaza Hotel. Departure times vary by bus. $75/person.

Please note: SDA will work to match you with your Tour choice. In the event a bus does not fill, we will assign you to a different bus. We will confirm your bus route, along with other registration details, closer to the conference.


ORANGE -Tour Bus A

Features 4 exhibits, a presentation, a panel discussion, and the opening reception for Future Tense 2019 with artworks that offers insight by artist/educators + a glimpse into the future of fiber art and work by SDA members.

  • “Paintings without Paint,” presentation on work by Sergej Jensen - Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum.

  • Future Tense 2019, SDA’s Annual Student Juried Exhibition and SDA Panel Discussion: Figuring It Out: Truths of Being Successful with Rena Wood, Jennifer Reis and Catherine Reinhart; moderated by Andrea Vail - Edwardsville Art Center.

Features 5 exhibits with an interesting variety from contemporary quilts, fiber art, and avant-garde fashion to new paths of textile explorations.
