The Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum, Washington University in St. Louis presents a free presentation on Saturday, October 5, 9:30-10 a.m. “Paintings without Paint,” this is how Sergej Jensen (Danish, b. 1973) has described his approach to creating large-scale canvases made out of found fabric, sewn together and altered by a combination of artistic intention and chance. Meredith Malone, associate curator, will discuss Jensen’s Untitled (2010), examining his use and manipulation of a variety of textiles such as burlap, raw silk, linen, and wool to create a work that wavers between abstraction and representation.
This presentation is held in conjunction with the IT19 Bus Tour and is free & open to all.
