Millstone Gallery at COCA presents “ADORNMENT: The Body as Maker and Made” September 20–December 15, 2019. Curated by COCA’s Curator in Residence, Yvonne Osei, this exhibit seeks to provoke a re-imagination of the human body by presenting the body itself as an artist/maker; the body as art; and the body as a medium for art. With visual art at its center, the exhibition will be a mixed-media experience that explores this concept through the lens of performance art (dance, poetry, vocal music), textiles (costumes, clothing), and other forms of body adornment (hair, nails). Invited visual artists will provide the centerpiece of the exhibition and will be selected for their relevance to the theme as well as an effort to present both complementary and contrasting styles and media.
Free reception Friday, September 20, 5:30 p.m.
This exhibit is free & open to the public M-F 9 a.m.-9 p.m., Sat. 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Sun. 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
